Sarandon might join the Big Valley

Susan Sarandon is in talks to star in the big screen adaptation of the television series The Big Valley. The remake and adaptation of the late 1960s show is being produced by Kate Edelman Johnson. Writing and directing the feature will be Daniel Adams, who’s other film credits include The Golden Boys and The Lightkeepers.

Victoria Barkley heads her adult brood on the Barkley Ranch in California’s San Joaquin Valley, near Stockton, in the 1870s. Heath is the illegitimate son of Victoria’s husband Tom (who is dead at the time of the series). Bank robbers, horse thieves, revolutionaries and land grabbers keep the Barkley’s hopping.

“I am so thrilled to be filming this project, not only to honor my father and Miss Stanwyck but to bring a great woman’s part to the screen as head of this historical family saga,” Edelman Johnson said to THR. No word on when filming is expected to start up.
