Rumor: Matthew Goode top contender for Superman
Earlier this week, it was announced the search for the Man of Steel was officially underway (here), and it should come to no surprise the rumors have begun to circulate. We’ve already heard such names as Tom Welling (Smallville) and Jon Hamm (Mad Men), and this new rumor isn’t too surprising. Insiders tellMovienewZ that Matthew Goode (Watchmen) is director Zack Snyder’s top choice as the next Clark Kent/Superman.
Their source also claims that Goode would only be portraying Clark Kent, and that Superman will be done in complete CG. Much like was done with Green Lantern’s costume in Martin Campbell’s film. This would solve the problem of casting an actor that could fit both Clark Kent and be fit enough for Superman. Snyder certainly has shown to work with the same actors (much like Christopher Nolan) on other projects, and Goode is relatively unknown, which Snyder was reportedly pushing for. He’s also just the right age. However, something about this just seems a bit off, and it’s possible he’s on the shortlist, but not the front-runner.
