Roll your eyes…Caine talks next Batman

As much as I think The Dark Knight is an incredible cinematic achievement, these rumors are getting old. But deep down inside, we love ‘em, so here’s the latest:

Michael Caine recently said: “There is nobody”, referring to the persistent casting rumors of Johnny Depp and others. “It can’t possibly be made before 2011 because Inception is such a big picture. Johnny Depp is great in anything, but there is no Johnny Depp in this Batman. They tell me in no certain terms.” Then he smiled.

What the? And then he smiled? Did he feel he put to rest these rumors? Only WB or Christopher Nolan can do that, and I’m thinking Nolan doesn’t care…yet. Or was the smile, a wink and a nod to us? Discuss.
