Rodriguez to take on Deadpool?

Robert Rodriguez is definitely taking a part of this year and calling it his own. Not only is he attached as producer for the upcoming Predators film, but he’s blasting onto the scene this September with the super bad ass feature length version of Machete. It’s no wonder then that he got an offer to go and take the directorial reigns on the Deadpool movie, reports The Playlist.

It’s been sitting in development ever since the opening weekend of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but Twentieth Century Fox wants to still further capitalize on the comic book adaptation craze and go ahead with a spinoff Deadpool film. It’s no real surprise that they’re still pushing for this since they’re going on fast-track mode with other comic book properties such as X-Men: First Class.

The real question now is whether or not Rodriguez wants to take on this kind of property or tend to other projects that have been on the back burner for awhile, like Sin City 2 (which a few of us have dreamt about since 2005). At the moment Rodriguez is setting himself up to go and start initial filming for Spy Kids 4: Armageddon which is slated for release on August 19th, 2011. Should it still be called Spy Kids if they aren’t adolescents anymore? Anyways, the one thing that’s for sure is that Ryan Reynolds is still attached to reprise his role as Deadpool.

Do you want any director in particular, whether it’d be Rodriguez or somebody else, to tackle Deadpool? Or would you rather they go and not waste their money?
