Robocop Reboot on hold?

Submitted by Melissa Molina on January 6, 2010 – 1:00 pmNo Comment

robocop-featEven though I basically asked the Hollywood gods to not have anymore hiatus-bound projects come to light within these past 24 hours after The Hobbit and Bond 23, it looks like the prayers were not answered at all. Now the newest property to get thrown into the development purgatory of sorts is Robocop, a remake that has been talked about for some time and has pissed off quite a few people too. Mind you, this is all in the rumor mill, so at least we have that bit of comfort.

MGM wants to go and make Robocop, but rumor has it that Mary Parent, a chairman of MGM, wants the cyborg to be presented in another kind of format. Enter 3D, the format that James Cameron has thrust into the minds of Hollywood execs with the success of Avatar (Film School Rejects). Darren Aronofsky is attached to direct the project, but because of the new 3D element that could be put into the entire process apparently he’s none too happy. What will be the fate of this brand spanking new remake? Lord knows, but we will keep you up to date once we find out whether or not this is true or false.
