Robinson jumps onto Abrams heist project
Field of Dreams director and writer Phil Alden Robinson is hopping onto the Abrams bandwagon as he signs on to go and write the script for his untitled heist project. Although J.J. Abrams is producing under his Bad Robot label, there’s no word on whether or not himself or Robinson will be taking the directorial reigns.
The project is based off the true story of an unprecedented diamond heist in Antwerp, Belgium, and the crew that pulled it off. In early 2003, a small group of Italian thieves circumvented 10 layers of security to access a vault beneath the Antwerp Diamond Center and make off with a purported $100 million in diamonds, gold and jewelry (the actual value remains a mystery) (Heat Vision Blog).
Circle of Confusion is also attached to the project with no release date set up at the moment. Robinson is latched on to write the upcoming Martin Scorsese directed biopic entitled Sinatra, based on the life of the legendary singer and actor Frank Sinatra.
