Reynolds to decide between Deadpool and R.I.P.D.
Rumors about Ryan Reynolds’ commitment to the X-Men Origins: Wolverine spin-off, Deadpool, have come into question lately. The actor has been cast in several different films recently leaving him with a tight schedule. He claims that he’s still committed to the role of Wade Wilson, and will be deciding between Deadpool and R.I.P.D.
Io9 caught up with Reynolds while promoting Buried, and spoke on both films. “And because it has an actor, and because these films have interested directors, it’s obviously likely that they’ll both get made. But I think it would be more likely that only one of them gets made with me,” he said. Both films are being fast-tracked by the studios, but Reynolds isn’t committed to a film until shooting begins. “ They’re both movies I’m interested in, they’re both movies that are in fast-track development. But I never say I’m doing a movie until I break for lunch the first day,” Reynolds said.
He’ll have plenty of time to decide on which film he does as neither film is next for him. “Neither [is] next. I shoot a movie called The Change-Up next. It’s kind of like an R-rated comedy, and right after that I start on a thriller called Safe House with Denzel Washington. And then, after that is where one of those two movies will hopefully fall,” he said. The actor also has Green Lantern 2 down the road, which the writers were last reported to begin work on a treatment. This will also give Twentieth Century Fox more time to negotiate with Robert Rodriguez to take the director’s chair.
