Rejoice! At the Movies gets new hosts
After the departure of Roger Ebert due to health, the show was limping along with co-host Richard Roeper having special guest critics for his replacement. Then the producers and Disney decided to “revamp” the show, controversially adding Ben Lyons and Ben Mankiewicz.
Well, rejoice! Because starting in September, “At the Movies” will now be co-hosted by A.O. Scott (New York Times) and Michael Phillips (Chicago Tribune)!
I think this is very good news for fans of the critic show, as these two will not have issues articulating their opinion in an educated way, unlike the goof Ben Lyons.

Richard Roeper was doing a fine job with all the guest critics and finally peaked when Michael Phillips became a permanent ficture on the show.
I gave up on At the Movies a while ago, because Roeper ‘jumped the shark’ a while back, and seemed to mostly have guest hosts that only ranked as good, movies like 300. Really liked a few guest hosts like Kevin Smith and couple of the gals that were on.
