Real Genius and House Party go into remake land
If there is one thing that will be remembered the most from doing said amount of movie news articles this year, it’s this; there’s at least two to three remakes being announced per week. That being said, Hollywood continues to not let me down as Pajiba reports that Real Genius and House Party are the next to be thrown in what I’d like to call the “remake blender”.

Imagine Entertainment and Columbia Pictures are teaming up to go and remake the Val Kilmer starring picture Real Genius. The 1985 comedy was the breakout role that catapulted Kilmer’s career onto a higher level. No word on who will be writing the picture or who will end up directing it. The story centers on Mitch, the youngest college student who ends up working with his eccentric college room mate to make a laser that ends up in the hands of the military. Him and his room mate end up going against the military, trying to scoop the laser away before it ends up being used for wrong and deadly reasons.
The second one in the blender is the 1990 comedy House Party, the remake being handled by Rat Entertainment and New Line. The story is about Young Kid who’s been invited to a party at his friend Play’s house. But after a fight at school, Kid’s father grounds him. None the less, Kid sneaks out when his father falls asleep. But Kid doesn’t know that three of the thugs at school has decided to give him a lesson in behavior.
Let us know what you think about all of this. Should they be remaking either of these movies, or should the Hollywood gods leave them alone?
