Production starts on Scorsese’s next
Hugo Cabret, Martin Scorsese’s first 3D film (see, even the old master is attempting one!) started production in London now, according to Sony Pictures. The film reunites him with Ben Kingsley from Shutter Island, and also stars Christopher Lee, Jude Law, Sasha Baron Cohen and Kick-Ass‘s Chloë Moretz.
The film is based on the New York Times best seller The Invention of Hugo Cabret, tells the tale of an orphan boy living a secret life in the walls of a Paris train station. When Hugo encounters a broken machine, an eccentric girl, and the cold, reserved man who runs the toy shop, he is caught up in a magical, mysterious adventure that could put all of his secrets in jeopardy.
The film is currently being planned for a December 2011 date.
