Playing Joe gets an option

Castle Rock Entertainment got together and optioned the script entitled Playing Joe from Jeff Miller. The script is a Rio-set romantic thriller in the vein of “North by Northwest,” with memory loss and recovery key to the plot (Variety). The story in question is set to be re-written by Nicholas Meyer who’s also set on penning the Martin Scorsese directed biopic The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt. Producing will be Mike Lobell, Liz Glotzer and Martin Shafer with them under Castle Rock.

Lobell previously produced on such pictures as Tears of the Sun and Striptease. Currently he’s in the middle of development with the upcoming Coen brothers version of the 1966 caper comedy entitled Gambit. Castle Rock Entertainment also has another feature knee deep in production, that being the Aaron Eckhart starring action science fiction feature called Battle for Los Angeles.
