Pixar’s UP will open this years Cannes film festival

With animation year after year being taken more seriously thanks in large part to the enormous success of Pixar, today comes word that the upcoming Pixar film UP, will be the latest film to open the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.  UP marks the first animated film to ever open the fest.  This year the festival will have celebrated french actress Isabell Huppert ( The Piano Teacher) as the head judge for the fest.

No big line ups have been announced for the fest film schedule outside of Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds.
