Pixar’s first direct-to-DVD film?
Movieline is reporting that Pixar will be making their first foray into the direct-to-DVD market with Planes, a spin-off from Cars and Cars 2. If one remembers correctly, Toy Story 2 was meant for the DTV market, but it was so good that it went theatrically, and the rest is history. Could Planes go this route or actually stay DTV? If it does, I wouldn’t want you all to think this is a bad idea, since Pixar is head-and-shoulders above anything in the theaters, so why can’t they dominate the DTV market? Personally, it doesn’t matter. Pixar is Pixar no matter how or where we see it.
