Pixar creating an all CG Dr. Strange?

Many were puzzled about the news of Disney buying Marvel little over a year ago. It was thought Marvel’s upcoming films would be toned down for the kids, but it looks like one of Marvel’s post-The Avengers films could be getting animated by Pixar studios.

In an interview with Bad Librarianship, Comic artist Brendan McCarthy revealed Pixar may be looking to create a complete CG film on Dr. Strange. “I was over in Hollywood earlier this year mooching about, and I had a meeting at Disney and the conversation drifted around to Pixar animating a Dr. Strange movie,” McCarthy said. It’s unclear how serious the discussions were, but development on the film seems to be quickly. Writers were hired to pen a treatment for a feature film, and a couple actors have been rumored for the role.

Pixar isn’t any stranger to superhero films, with the likes of The Incredibles. However, Dr. Strange doesn’t fit into Pixar’s family friendly tone The Incredibles had. Most wouldn’t argue that Pixar has yet to make a bad film, and may be Dr. Strange could be a film that Pixar uses to experiment with something new.
