Pirates 4 to be a Musical?
Rob Marshall, the new director Disney has their eyes set on, has a track record of being a choreographer, not a director. This comes after the director of the original Pirates trilogy, Gore Verbinski, left this past April to focus on the Bioshock movie. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer and Disney have been on the hunt for a replacement director that can wrap the film before star Johnny Depp starts shooting The Lone Ranger later next year.
While this plan kicks the movie back on schedule for 2010, Depp still has The Lone Ranger to shoot and to at least start on Dark Shadows. And in Rob Marshall’s defense, he did direct Memoirs of a Geisha, so though Pirates 4 may not feel like the others in the trilogy, it should still be worth seeing.
