Paula Patton joins Mission: Impossible reboot
It was just recent that several actors were competing for the role of Ethan Hunt’s (Tom Cruise) sidekick in Paramount’s reboot of Mission: Impossible. The role ended up going to Jeremy Renner, who’s name came in out of nowhere. Now, the film has just cast its lead female role.
Deadline Hollywood reports that after screen-testing a few actresses, Paula Patton (Precious) has landed the role of the female lead in the film.
There’s not much information on her character other than she will “play a young operative who works with Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt character.” It’s also confirmed the film will not be called Mission: Impossible 4. Cruise and Abrams apparently meant the film to be a reboot since it was put together. Brad Bird is directing the film, and will begin production in the fall.
