Paramount options live-action The Hunchback of Notre Dame

Studios are now trying to capitalize on the success of Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland by adapting classic fairy tales. Walt Disney Studios is already a live-action Cinderella and The Little Mermaid, with Summit Entertainment creating a Three Musketeers film. Now, Paramount is looking to create a live-action film based on the classic The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount Pictures has obtained a screenplay from screenwriters Willie Block and Jake Emanuel. The film will be a “high-concept action-adventure story” take on the original story. The idea is to make it in the vein of Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean series. Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradia will be producing, but is keeping it’s plot secret. Edward Fee will be overseeing the project for Paramount.
