Original Hannibal Lecter joins Apes

Manhunter and Super Troopers star Brian Cox has joined Fox’s Rise of the Apes, the prequel to the Planet of the Apes series. According to The Wrap, Cox will play the film’s main villain, a cruel and abusive owner of a primate sanctuary. Cox a villain? No way! Joking aside, the film has gotten itself quite a cast: James Franco, John Lithgow, Freida Pinto and Andy Serkis.

The film is scheduled for a June 2011 date.
