Official: Daniel Craig in Fincher’s ‘Dragon Tattoo’

Daniel Craig is official journalist Mikael Blomkvist in the upcoming trilogy, directed by David Fincher. Rumors had Craig listed as being cast for a good month or more now. Still no word on who will play Lisbeth Salander, but An Education‘s Carey Mulligan is off of the contention circuit.

While the Swedish film is on DVD and Blu-ray right now, with the other two films hitting theaters late summer and mid-Fall, look for the American The Girl with Dragon Tattoo December 2012.

  1. He looks similar to the guy who’s in the Swedish version.

Yeah, and he’s a really good actor. I’m pretty excited for his casting.

  2. I was watching the original a few weeks back with my parents, and my mom said she thought Craig would be perfect, and this was before I told her he was in the running to be in it. Everyone see it, so it’s a perfect casting. Now they better get someone worthwhile for Lisbeth.

Casting an actress in one of the most crucial things for this remake. Every young actress is wanting it, yet to they go with a name or unknown?

I think a name that is talented, but not huge could be a good choice. As long as Ellen Page (who’s not bad just wrong for the role) and Rooney Mara (who was horrible in ANOE remake) aren’t cast, I’m fine with almost any other actress they have named so far.

  3. wow… i just watched the original. it was beautiful.. and the yall are right its a great call on the casting.. now its just finding someone as crazy eyed and distant as liz.. hope they pick a good one
