Nolan taking The Dark Knight Rises to Asia (Updated)
Nolan continues to prepare The Dark Knight Rises to begin shooting next May. The script is supposedly completed and turned in (here), and we’ve already heard a few bit of casting news (here, here, and here). We’ve heard that Nolan won’t be taking the film to New Orleans as previously thought (here), but will be heading to same locations that were used for the previous two films (here). However, it seems that Nolan is considering another location as well.
According to a tweet by Geoff Boucher of Hero Complex has revealed that Nolan is scouting locations to shoot the film in Asia. “Chris Nolan is under the weather and scouting locations in Asia for “DK Rises” but excited about Globes noms,” he posted. Of course, the first thing many are thinking is this hints that Tali al Ghul will be featured in the film. That same thing happened when rumors about shooting in New Orleans arose, and many thought it hinted at Killer Croc (here). Although, Talia al Ghul presence in the film would hold more weight as Ras Al Ghul (Ken Watanabe and Liam Neeson) was the villain in Batman Begins, and we’ve already heard Nolan will feature a femme fatal in the film. But this news could not have anything to do with the plot at all, and Nolan may think the scenery is good for the film.
Update: The Hollywood Reporter is getting word that Nolan is scouting locations in India.
Production is looking to kick-off in May for a release in July of 2012.
