No plans for Toy Story 4

Yesterday saw the home release of one of the biggest films this year, Toy Story 3. The film was not only very well received by fans and critics, but also a huge success at the box-office earning over $1 billion. The first thing many assume will happen is that Pixar is planning a fourth in the series. However, that’s not the case.

Movieweb spoke with producer Darla K. Anderson while being honored for her work at the Los Angeles Producers Guild of America and Women In Film, and revealed that Toy Story 4 isn’t on the studio’s radar. “You know we have no plans for it at this point,” she said. Like many, Anderson believes that Toy Story 3 brought the series to great stopping point, and isn’t planning to continue.  “No we’re really not. We really worked hard at bringing Toy Story 3 to a conclusion,” she said. Of course, it’s possible that a fourth entry could happen, just not at the moment.

This may disappoint many who want to see Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz (Tim Allen) on the screen again, but worry not as Anderson confirms earlier reports (here) that our favorite toys will be back.  “We do have the short films that we are working on because we love the characters so much and want to keep them alive,” she said. We’ll get our first look at these shorts next summer in front of Cars 2. Anderson couldn’t say much about it, just that it will involve the classic and new characters.
