Nimrod Antal chooses his next project
Nimrod Antal’s Predators opens up next Friday, but the director has already chosen his next project. The Playlist got a chance to interview Antal where he talked about his next project, titled Paraffin.
Antal says that it’s a “passion project that he’s been ”writing for a few years”. In fact, the director wanted to get the film going right after he finished Kontroll back in 2005. He didn’t want to give any much detail on the story, but did offer a teaser. Antal stated the film is about “men and women will build a boat out of plastic bottles in Cuba to escape oppression, right? So imagine if our world has become that [kind of] oppression. You aren’t building plastic bottle boats anymore, you have to build something else to get out of here.”
When asked if we could see a sequel to Predators, Antal stated that it all depends on next weekend. If the film makes enough to generate a sequel, then Antal could be in a difficult position. The Predator franchise hasn’t had a very succesful film since the original, but this film could very well be just what the fanboys were looking for.
Predators opens on July 9, 2010.
