New Hellraiser film begining soon?

Clive Barker’s minor classic Hellraiser was seen its fair share of sequels, and over the last year or so, the proposed remake has slipped into and out of actually being made. Sources close to Barker, claim (via Shock) that a new sequel will begin soon, but not the remake. The film is being touted as Hellraiser: Revelations based on a script by the series long-time FX man Gary Tunnicliffe, and will be directed by Mirrors 2 director Victor Garcia.

It seems curious that this film just sprouted up overnight, with the remake now dead-in-the-water,  but before we get agitated or excited, let’s all wait and see. Still, a new Hellraiser film would likely go straight-to-DVD, while the remake could reach a bigger audience theatrically, and reinvent the series, as it has long been dead as the countless DTV sequels have done no better than the much-hated (but guilty pleasure of mine) Hellraiser: Bloodline.
