New Bond movie put on hold
The emergency brake has been pulled on the newest James Bond film as EON Productions holds up on further development pending on what’s going on with MGM. Right now the studio is in the middle of a distribution sale for the rights along with EON that’s completely up in the air thanks to the huge load of debt they’ve sunk themselves into. Here’s what producer Michael G. Wilson said on the situation from Mi6.:

“Our timeline’s a little up in the air what with the situation at MGM, so we have to be flexible. We just don’t know enough about the situation to comment, but we know it’s uncertain.”
Then of course there’s Daniel Craig blatantly covering up the obvious in his own statement.:
“Well… we’ve hired the writers and we’ve been working with them but it’s just too early to say anything,” he said. “You know, often at this stage, I find myself saying, ‘Oh, we’re gonna do this and that’, then six months from now you’ll say, ‘That isn’t in the film at all – you told me it was…’ I think we’re at the stage where a lot of ideas are floating around that sound very good, but whether they make the final cut, who knows?”
Don’t think that Bond is the only one affected by all of this. For all of you lovers of the upcoming production of The Hobbit, it could jump onto the hold sector as well which could obviously further delay the project.
