New awesome poster for The Expendables

The Expendables can best be described as several action icons all formulating together on the big screen for one explosion of pure awesome, or at least that’s what one can hope. The feature is directed by Sylvester Stallone from a script co-written by him and David Callaham that also stars the action star.

The plot revolves around a group of mercenaries hired to infiltrate a South American country and overthrow its ruthless dictator. Once the mission begins, the men realize things arent quite as they appear, finding themselves caught in a dangerous web of deceit and betrayal. With their mission thwarted and an innocent life in danger, the men struggle with an even tougher challenge one that threatens to destroy this band of brothers.

The Millennium/Nu Image Films and Lionsgate feature also stars Jet Li, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke and a cameo from Arnold Schwarzenegger. The Expendables catapults into theaters on August 13th. That’s going to be one tough weekend, considering that it’s opening the same day as Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.
