Natalie Portman joins Thor

Oscar nominee Natalie Portman has just been announced as the female lead in Kenneth Branaugh‘s Thor.  The upcoming superhero picture is turning out to be one of the more interesting superhero projects of recent memory turning a semi interesting superhero based on Greek mythology into a film being directed by Oscar nominee Kenneth Branaugh and having Captain Kirk as the titular hero.

Accordig to THR:  The story centers on Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. As punishment, Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans but once here, he learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.
