Natali climbs into Tunnels

Cube and Splice director Vincenzo Natali is taking on the adaptation of Tunnels. This piece is based off of a novel series of the same name written by Brian Williams and Roderick Gordon. The script is being penned by Joel Bergvall and Simon Sandquist with Ryan Kavanaugh, Mark Canton, Neil Canton and Danny Davids producing.
Tunnels is abouthe adventures of fourteen year-old Will Burrows after his father, Dr Burrows, a frustrated archaeologist who works at the local and rather unexceptional museum in Highfield, suddenly goes missing. Will is an unconventional leading protagonist; unpopular and picked on at school because of his albinism, his passion is to dig in search of the buried past. As the story unfolds, he forms a new friendship with Chester Rawls, another outsider at school, and together their investigations into Dr Burrows’ plight lead them down to a hidden city below London called the Colony, a time capsule of life from eighteenth century England, ruled with an iron fist by the barbaric and evil Styx, a kind of religious police.
Here’s a little bit more of an explanation on the upcoming adaptation from Mark Canton to Coming Soon.:
“This first installment of the ‘Tunnels’ franchise will open up a whole new universe of excitement and adventure to audiences throughout the world,” said Mark Canton. “It represents the next level in family entertainment, combining a science-based reality reminiscent of the classic fiction of Verne and Wells, but in a completely contemporary setting, with today’s immersive cinematic technology to create a believable, yet unforgettable movie-going experience.”
