Murphy calls for Rapunzel

Submitted by Melissa Molina on December 10, 2009 – 12:14 pmNo Comment

Donna MurphyDonna Murphy is the newest person to lend their voice to Walt Disney Pictures’ latest addition to the 2D princess animated family with Rapunzel. Murphy will be voicing Mother Gothel, the villainess that keeps Rapunzel locked away. The story centers on Rapunzel (voiced by Mandy Moore), who is kidnapped from her parents’ castle as child and locked in a hidden tower before escaping with the help of a bandit (Zachary Levi) (THR).

Rapunzel is set to be released on November 24th, 2010. Walt Disney Pictures is currently boosting the marketing for the supposed ‘bringing back 2D animated films’ with The Princess and the Frog. Will it actually give the supposed sub animated princess genre an adrenaline shot back to life, or will Rapunzel end up having to clean up the mess? Only time will tell, especially once The Princess and the Frog rolls into theaters this upcoming weekend everywhere.
