MTV casting away for Teen Wolf remake

Submitted by Melissa Molina on December 14, 2009 – 10:22 amNo Comment

Here comes one of the few remakes that I completely forgot about until MTV Films decided to rear their ugly head with the sharp reminder in the form of casting news. Crystal Reed, Tyler Posey, Tyler Hoechlin and Dylan O’Brien are all joining up on the Teen Wolf remake. Here’s more from (THR).

TeenWolfIt revolves around Scott McCall (Posey), a dorky high-school student who gets a rush of new powers, including the ability to attract girls, after a wolf attack.O’Brien will play Scott’s best friend who is initially dismissive of Scott’s theory that he was bitten by a wolf but then begins research on human-werewolf transformation. Reed (MTV’s “Hard Times”) will play a sweet new girl at school who is immediately smitten with Scott. Reed is repped by Mavrick Artists and Main Title. ”7th Heaven” alum Hoechlin will play a handsome local boy who in fact is a vicious and predatory werewolf capable of great harm.

No set date for the film to be released and no idea who would be directing this. So what do you think, are the remakes going a bit overboard? Do we really love the eighties that bad at this point that we have to remake every other popular movie from that decade that we can think of? Don’t get me wrong, Teen Wolf is not any sort of staple of the eighties for myself, but its starting to turn into overkill. What do you think?
