More actors on the Thor boat

Submitted by Melissa Molina on October 19, 2009 – 12:18 pmNo Comment

250px-thor_blood_oath_5This past weekend has been full of buzz on who’s being casted as what for respected comic book properties. The big story was all about “A Nightmare on Elm Street” star Jackie Earle Haley possibly being casted in the new “Green Lantern” movie. Now it’s time to shift back into Marvel territory with Kenneth Branagh’s “Thor” and how crazy the rumor mill has been going.

Within the Thor universe there are three supporting characters that have teamed up with the Norse god through his quests within the Marvel comics. Rumor has been swirling about that actors Robert De Niro and Jude Law are both in talks to be in this comic book adaptation as a couple of the Warriors Three. This group consists of the characters Hogun, Volstagg and Fandral and as Coming Soon has reported now could have actor Dominic Cooper in the mix playing Volstagg.

This sudden burst of “Thor” casting news could finally start to seal up any openings with the cast and crew getting ready to film in January 2010. The film stars “Star Trek” actor Chris Hemsworth and includes Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddelson, Jaimie Alexander, Stellan SkarsgÃ¥rd and Samuel L Jackson. Currently the Paramount Pictures and Marvel Studios film is looking at a May 20, 2011 release date.
