Mike Judge talks of Sequels to Classics Past
Following the release of Extract, more specifically the Beavis and Butthead promo for it, the cats over at CinemaBlend caught up with the legendary creator Mike Judge and asked about the revival of the long-missed duo.
When asked about the future for the pair, and the possibility of a reunion, Judge said, “I don’t ever want to close the door on that. I feel like they’re always still there. If I did do another movie, I wouldn’t think of it as a sequel, it’s just another.” Judge also has a few thoughts as to what the AC/DC and Metallica metal-heads would be doing. “I keep wanting to do something with them being like old, in their 60s, two dirty old men sitting on a couch,” but that’s not his only thought. Judge alluded to a little more fleshed out idea of the two having normal 9-5 jobs, and ” to just have them working tech support.” The subject came up when Judge and Etan Cohen wrote the first draft of Idiocracy.
“We kept getting distracted thinking of ‘Beavis and Butthead’ stuff.”
That’s good enough for me. I remember watching Beavis and Butthead as a kid, and even playing their point-and-click adventures. Love those guys. And having Etan Cohen working on new bits really makes me hopeful. Cohen wrote some great episodes of both King of the Hill and the original Beavis and Butthead series, and he’s also got an episode of American Dad! that’s not unbearable. The clip preceding shows the duo reloaded, but Beavis sounds like he’s been smoking a pack a day since the show went off the air.
Thoughts?
