Mighty Mouse flies onto the big screen
The super powered cartoon mouse is making it’s way into theaters as Paramount Pictures gets ready to reboot Mighty Mouse, says the LA Times. The tiny super hero made his first appearance back in the 1940s, spawning off into several animated television shows, a limited release movie and quite a few comics. The thing about this property is that Mighty Mouse has been in development for years under Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies. The two have been going back and forth with directors and writers so much that they figure that the time is now to go and finally put this picture into full-motion.
This should not sound as much of a surprise, given the fact that there’s a sudden re-emergence of cartoon properties that are quickly getting scooped up to get the hybrid live action/animation treatment. There are a few properties that are getting such treatment, like The Smurfs and Yogi Bear, that are both currently in production.
Next on the distribution slate for Paramount Pictures is the highly anticipated Marvel Studios feature Iron Man 2 for this May 7th, while Nickelodeon Movies readies up their summer tentpole film The Last Airbender, poised for release on July 2nd.
