Michael Bay to produce Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot
Last October, Nickelodeon bought the rights for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from New Line, and for some time the studio has been aiming to reboot the franchise with a new live-action film. Now according to Deadline Hollywood, Nickelodeon and Paramount have brought on Michael Bay and his crew to produce the reboot.
Platinum Dunes is known for recent horror remakes such as Friday The 13th and A Nightmare On Elm Street. The plan is to have Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, and Andrew Form to produce the film with Galen Walker and Scott Mednick. This makes Michael Bay in charge of two productions from Paramount, the first being Transformers 3. The producers are set to begin meeting with writers in the coming weeks.
The previous attempt to revive the franchise was with the animated TMNT, but failed to live up to the earlier films. There’s not much known about this reboot, but it will be a mixture of live-action and CGI for the faces of the turtles.
