McShane jumping On Stranger Tides

Ian McShane is in the middle of negotiations to possibly take on the role of the villian in the fourth Pirates movie called Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. McShane will play legendary pirate Blackbeard — whose real name was Edward Teach — who piloted the ship Queen Anne’s Revenge (THR). The Rob Marshall directed feature already stars Johnny Depp, reprising his role as the beloved Captain Jack Sparrow. Penelope Cruz is said to also be latching onto the sequel as Sparrow’s equal in a tale that centers on the mystical Fountain of Youth.

The script is written by Ted Elliot and and Terry Rossio, who both teamed up together previously to write the three earlier installments of the popular Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films franchise. The film is expected to hit theaters on May 20th, 2011.
