McKay looking for a Resurrection

Bill McKay is setting his sights on something biblical as he wrangles up $20 Million to start up production on The Resurrection of the Christ. Penning the script is Dan Gordon, who’s written works include Murder in the First and Surf Ninjas. Directing the picture is Jonas McCord, this becoming his fourth helmed picture under his belt.
The picture will be under Samuel Goldwyn Films, eyeing an Easter 2011 release date. Here’s more on what McKay has to say on the upcoming feature to Variety.:
The screenplay with a focus on the power, greed and ambition of those involved in the crucifixion — Pontius Pilate, Herod, Caiaphas and Judas.
“It’s as much about the key players as it is about Jesus,” McKay said. “We want to bring in the ‘Gladiator’ dimension of the first century against the political milieu of the time.”
Initial filming should end up commencing sometime in the summer at the latest if they want to make it to their set release date. No word yet on who’s going to appear in the film.
