McG negotiating to direct R.I.P.D (Updated)
Ryan Reynolds may have wrapped up filming on Green Lantern, but the studios are currently working development of his other comic book adaptation. The actor is attached to star in the X-Men Origins: Wolverine spin-off Deadpool, and a live-action adaptation of R.I.P.D (Rest In Peace Department). Pajiba is reporting that McG (Terminator: Salvation) is circling to direct the film.
For those who haven’t read the comics, R.I.P.D focuses on a police department in the afterlife. One cop is recently deceased, and wants to find who killed him, the second cop has been dead for centuries. Negotiations are still in the very early stages, and would come after McG finishes This Mean War.
However, it’s uncertain when Reynolds would be available to shoot the film. The actor still has Deadpool spin-off, and Green Lantern 2 and 3Â that are planned for filming back-to-back.
Update: The LA Times report that McG is out of the running to direct the film.
