Matthew Libatique re-teams with Aronofsky for Wolverine 2

Fans are still disappointed over Gavin Hoods X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but news on the sequel seems to look better and better. We’ve already heard that Darren Aronofsky (The Wrestler, Black Swan) will be sitting in the director’s chair this time (here), and Christopher McQuarrie’s script is looking to be very good. Now, we have another reason to look forward to the film.

Hitfix spoke with cinematographer Matthew Libatique, and revealed that he’s re-teaming with Aronofsky for the film. Libatique has worked with Aronofsky on all of his projects except The Wrestler, which Aronofsky believed he wasn’t right for the film. He recently teamed with Aronofsky on Black Swan that his getting a lot of praise lately. Libatique isn’t limited to dramatic films, and has worked with Jon Favreau on Iron Man and Cowboys and Aliens.

Production is looking to begin next March for a likely 2012 release.
