Matt Reeves or Tony Scott to direct Wolverine 2?
It’s been quite some time since we’ve heard any news on the status of Wolverine 2. We know the film will most likely take place in Japan and will stick closer to the source material. Things have been progressing in the search for a director and now is rumored to be down to two.
The Playlist received word from a very reliable source, that Matt Reeves and Tony Scott are the final contenders to direct the film. Other directors such as Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt Locker), Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted), and  Daniel Espinosa (Snabba Cash) were also approached by Twentieth Century Fox. Of the two choices Matt Reeves would probably the least expensive. The director is still making a name for himself, but has shown with Cloverfield, he can handle action. If he were to sign on, then it would be the most costly film he’s directed so far.
Tony Scott has directed a few action films in his career, but this would be his first superhero project. Scott would be most likely be more expensive to hire, but could also bring something good to a franchise that’s losing it’s fans. After the previous film, fans are wanting Twentieth Century Fox to bring the X-Men franchise to it’s former glory.
Wolverine 2 is tentatively scheduled to begin production in January.
