Mary Jane NOT in Spider-Man 3D
When Emma Stone was reported to have been offered a role in Marc Webb’s Spider-Man reboot, everyone assumed it was for the role of Mary Jane Watson. However, she was announced as Peter Parker/Spider-Man’s love interest, but as Gwen Stacy instead (here). This lead many to question if Mary Jane would even show up in the film.
The Wrap now confirms that Mary Jane Watson will NOTÂ appear in the film at all. There was some discussion about casting two love interests for Peter Parker (here), but the idea was dropped after Stone was cast as Gwen Stacy. Although, it film intends to follow the comics, then Gwen Stacy will eventually be taken out, and make way for Mary Jane. It’s also possible the character could appear in the sequel, and the writers could work in a love triangle for the characters.
Production is scheduled to begin next month.
