Maniac Cop and Maniac in the pipeline to be remade

Submitted by Jason Bene on November 22, 2009 – 7:23 pm3 Comments

378833_1020_AThe remake trains shows no sign of slowing down as news came down from Bloody Disgusting that two of Bill Lustig’s best are being redone. The films in question are Maniac Cop and Maniac, starring Tom Atkins and Joe Spinell respectively. I for one would love to see more Maniac Cop films, and hopefully they find a way to bring back Robert Z’Dar as the long arm of the law.

Maniac: A schizoid serial killer randomly stalks and kills various young women in New York, which he sees as revenge for the mistreatment he got while being raised by his own abusive mother.

Maniac Cop: Innocent people are being brutally murdered on the streets of New York City by a uniformed police officer. As the death toll rises, Detective Frank McCrae heads the investigation. Jack Forrest, a young cop, finds himself under arrest as the chief suspect. He and his girlfriend Theresa, along with McCrae then set out to solve the mystery before the Maniac Cop strikes again.
