Mandate obtains rights to The Day of the Triffids

It was reported back in late-September that Producer Don Murphy would be teaming with Michael Preger on an adaptation of the classic novel, The Day of the Triffids. Since then, studios were bidding on the rights to the adaptation, with Warner Bros.  bidding for David Yates and Mandate for Sam Raimi. The deal would include seven-figures and John Wyndham novel.

Deadline Hollywood now reports that Mandate Pictures have obtained the rights to the adaptation. It’s unknown if this means that Sam Raimi would direct, but he likely to be attached in some way. The film will also be produced by Ghost House. Michael Preger and Don Murphy will also be producing.
