Making a new Dirty Carnival

“A Dirty Carnival” is the latest foreign film to get the American remake treatment. Sparkler Entertainment and CJ Entertainment are both teaming up to make an Americanized version of the 2006 South Korean film. The original follows the rise and emotional decline of a small-time hoodlum, who collects debts for a Korean triad but is also burdened by his family’s own financial problems (Variety).

The feature was originally written and directed by Yu Ha, but there is no word yet on who will pen the script. Chris Hauty, who’s previous work includes “Never Back Down”, will be directing the feature. Andrew Bernstein and Charles Segars are producing under Sparkler Entertainment with Ted Kim producing under CJ Entertainment.
