Magnet Releasing is set to bring The Oxford Murders to U.S. shores
Álex de la Iglesia is known for his splatter comedies Accion Mutante and Day of the Beast, but with The Oxford Murders he turns toward the murder mystery sub-genre with a strong cast led by Elijah Wood. The movie has been finished for some time, and Magnet Releasing will have it out on-demand July 2 and in theatres August 6.
“Arthur Seldom (John Hurt), a prestigious professor of logic at Oxford, and Martin (Elijah Wood), a young graduate student discover an old lady murdered. It quickly becomes clear that this is the first in a series of murders, all of which are announced by the murderer with strange symbols. Arthur and Martin join forces to try and crack the code and thus begins an elaborate puzzle, in which nothing is at it seems, and the truth is elusive. As Martin gets closer to the facts, he feels increasingly insecure with his grasp on the world around him.
Based on Guillermo Martinez’s award-winning novel, THE OXFORD MURDERS is an edgy and intelligent thriller.”
