Madonna takes on W.E.
Madonna is ready to chuck herself back in time as she takes on the director’s role for the upcoming period piece entitled W.E. The story is a biopic about the affair between King Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson that led to the Brit royal abdicating from the throne to marry his divorcee lover (Variety). Already circling around the role of Simpson is Up in the Air‘s Vera Farmiga. Producing the picture is David Parfitt and Colin Vaines with Alex Keshishian penning the script. Keshishian is a familiar name for those who remember Madonna: Truth or Dare, due to the plain fact that he directed the picture.
Despite what we all might think, this is not the first time that Madonna threw the mic out of her hands and put the director’s cap on. She directed the 2008 feature Filth and Wisdom, a comedy centered on three flatmates living desperate lives in London. The written and directed piece by the musician grabbed mixed reviews.
