Madden dances with Fair Lady

Submitted by Melissa Molina on December 1, 2009 – 9:31 amNo Comment

john_madden_1For those of you who absolutely adore the Audrey Hepburn 1964 musical My Fair Lady will not like this bit of news. Variety reports that Shakespeare in Love and Proof director John Madden is signing on to helm the Columbia Pictures remake. You can now contemplate whether or not this is something to dread with not just the mere fact that it will be remade but that Keira Knightley has been circling the project like a vulture for awhile to grab the lead role. Then again, the remake could take a step away from the Hepburn feature since it will try to follow the play and novel other than just polishing up the movie.

The film will be produced by Cameron Mackintosh and Duncan Kenworthy with no word on who will be writing up the script.
