Machete may kill again

What started out as a fake trailer in front of Grinhouse may end up as a trilogy. Machete was the long awaited spin-off to Grindhouse, and if you saw the film, then you know that Rodriguez teased the audience with “Machete Kills” and “Machete Kills Again“. While it may have been taken as a joke, Rodriguez admits those films are being planned.

Speaking with IGN at the premiere of the film, Rodriguez states “Machete don’t joke.” Rodriguez decided to insert the titles into the film after he felt fans would demand a sequel. “We made the trailer to Machete not knowing that they’ll be a movie afterwards and then people came after us and said where is the movie, so if people come after us and say where is Machete Kills Again then we’ll know we’ll need it,” he said.

With Rodriguez’s busy schedule, you would assume that development would be way down the road. However, he already has an idea for the trailer.  ”I have a good trailer for that already,” he admits. The story has also been planned out as well. “I already know the story of Machete Kills. I hope we get to do it, because I like the story a lot,” Rodriguez said. The film opened in third during the Labor Day weekend, but if it can make enough money, the Rodriguez will be contacting Trejo about a sequel.
