M. Night Shyamalan nabs himself a slumdog!

M. Night Shyamalan’s next film Avatar: The Last Airbender has just landed BAFTA nominee and Slumdog Millionaire star Dev Patel as lead in his upcoming planned trilogy based on the Nickelodeon cartoon series.  Patel had been hired to lead the cast as musician Jesse McCartney had to drop out after not being able to attend Shyamalan’s boot camp that the director holds before everyone one of his films. 

Shyamalan responded regarding the new casting decision: “Jesse had tour dates that conflicted with a boot camp I always hold on my films, and where the actors here have to train for martial arts,”

Here’s hoping Shyamalan comes back after his critically and commercially panned last two features The Happening and Lady In The Water.
