Lionsgate gets their Last Exorcism
Lionsgate makes another acquisition in the film world as they pick up the domestic distribution rights to The Last Exorcism. This feature is directed by Daniel Stamm, originally titled as Cotton until it switched around names that is quite more appealing. The script is penned by both Andrew Gurland and Huck Botko, who’s other collaborative scripts include Mail Order Wife.
Eli Roth is attached as producer along with Tom Bliss, Eric Newman and Marc Abraham. The picture stars Patrick Fabian as a troubled evangelical minister who allows his final exorcism to be filmed by a documentary crew.
The picture, along with domestic sales from Lionsgate, is under Strike Entertainment and Studio Canal. Here’s some more on thoughts of the brand new deal from Variety.:
“It’s always great to work with our friend Eli, who has played a key role in establishing Lionsgate in the vanguard of the horror genre,” said Jason Constantine, Lionsgate’s prexy of acquisitions and co-productions. “?’The Last Exorcism’ feels as close to a real exorcism as anyone would ever want to get — audiences are going to find this movie scary as, well, hell.
