Liman could go for All You Need Is Kill

Since Doug Liman has more time on his hands, since he previously jumped ship on Warner Bros’ version of The Three Musekteers, he’s found more time on his hands that could be filled with another project. The big question is which project will be be sinking his claws into next. Well the Heat Vision Blog got the scoop, reporting that Liman could be dancing his way over to helm the adaptation of All You Need Is Kill.

Based off the science fiction novel/Japanese manga by Hiroshi Sakurazaka, All You Need Is Kill revolves around Keiji, a new recruit in the United Defense Force, fighting against the mysterious creatures called ‘Mimics’ which have laid siege to Earth. Keiji is killed on his first sortie, but through some inexplicable phenomenon wakes up having returned to the day before the battle, only to find himself caught in a time loop as his death and resurrection repeats time and time again. Keiji’s skills as a soldier grows as he passes through the time loops trying to change his fate.

There’s one huge problem that gets in the way for the studio-claimed film, and that’s the fact that they’re trapped with a spring shoot date thanks to the deal they made with 3 Arts Entertainment. It’s a race against the clock as they try to lure Liman to take on the project.

Doug Liman’s Fair Game premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, but there’s no word as to when the feature will come out here in the States.
