Lars Von Trier begins work on Planet Melancholia

Lars Von Trier‘s success with this year’s Antichrist (which is available on On-Demand, starting October 28th and begins a wider release starting October 30th) has seemingly come and gone from the viewers minds with the hustle and bustle beginning with the start of this years Oscar season having already begun and Charlotte Gainsburg‘s performance slowly coming off the mind of the movie going public.

That being said the Danish director has decided to take it up a notch and take a break from genital mutilation with his next film Planet Melancholia, a 7.4 million dollar psychological disaster film.  Low budget aside, Von Trier is a talented director who should be able to up the ante of destruction with the limited budget.

The director has not said what the plot of his upcoming disaster film will be, but ended saying the film will have ”no happy endings!”
